What, Why, Who

I’m a Board Certified Patient Advocate and work strictly for my clients and their families. I advocate on their behalf to ensure their needs are being met and ensure they’re getting the optimum quality of care they are entitled to.

Nancy was not there simply for emergencies – she was a friend, always compassionate, always intelligent about health care decisions, and always on my Aunt Ruth’s side advocating for her as she might for her own grandmother.”

Why Do You Need a Patient Advocate?

As a patient advocate, I help with all your healthcare needs. From attending doctors appointments, staying with you while in the hospital, coordinating your transition to hospital/rehabilitation center/home, and so much more. I communicate with all members of your healthcare team (treatment providers, family members, caregivers, insurance companies, medical supply companies, and the like)—basically whatever it is you need, I am there solely to help you and your family!

  • Obtaining the norm of what was years ago requires an advocate who has the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Family members are unable to fulfill this role due to the extensive amount of time needed, and distance from Client.
  • As the aging population grows and makes increased use of medical services, the burden of healthcare falls on the shoulders of patients and families who are often unprepared for the amount of care required to effectively manage acute and disabling medical conditions. Patient Advocates help patients and families learn what they need to learn in order to understand the healthcare landscape and adjust to the best quality of life possible. They are trained to give voice to patient needs and rights, and work to make sure that providers are doing their best to meet these needs and respect their rights.
  • The extensive amount of time needed to fully understand newly diagnosed medical conditions, treatment options, and patient rights within a complex healthcare system, often precludes family members from effectively supporting their loved one—especially at a time of crisis or intense emotional distress. A Patient Advocate gives family members peace of mind, by taking on many of the tasks that ensure the best care possible for their loved one.
  • Increase in medical care for complex and/or multiple illnesses.
  • Professional expert on your side, you trust, to act on your behalf.
